Like all politicians concerned with winning North Carolina, Newt Gingrich visited Broughton on Tuesday. It doesn’t matter that Newt might not win the Republican nomination. He’s probably just practicing for 2016. Broughton students are used to high profile politicians visiting us. It’s so old hat that some students even jokingly threaten to bring a bomb to school and end up having to sit in a room with Secret Service the whole time Vice President Al Gore and John Edwards were visiting Broughton back in 2000. What happened during Newt’s visit yesterday, is one of the most ITB things we’ve seen at a Broughton political visit. Watch below:
This. actually. happened.
Broughton student, and future college late night host, Snow Holding, was given the opportunity to ask Newt a question. He took the microphone and said, “I’m a big fan of you. But I have to say, it’s obvious that Mr. Obama is running an unsustainable economy. I was wondering if you could do us all a favor and Newt-er Obama?” That single question may have gained him entry into the ITB Legends Hall of Fame. This kid is already super ITB. His first name is a verb and a noun, he goes to Broughton, and has the political stones to demand Newt do something about Mr. Obama. He even took the time to make a sign for those people who couldn’t hear him. So this week’s ITB Moment of the Week goes to Snow Holding.
I’m sure the liberal media will try to spin this to make us look bad. It won’t work though. If you’re at Broughton, you know politics. Broughton’s rigorous course load has always prepared students with the knowledge they need to ask the hard hitting questions. Just because he’s in high school doesn’t mean he has no idea what he’s talking about. He can clearly see what’s going on in the world. It was a genius play on words, something that could only be learned in Broughton’s Creative Writing class. I’m just glad Rick Santorum didn’t visit or the question would have been, “Can you Santorum Obama?”
